Frontier Regional High School
Torrey cut her teeth in the heart of Massachussetts in no small part due to the superior UMASS system which enabled her to affordably become certified while also spending an entire year in the classroom. It proved to be invaluable for Torrey to have had almost quadruple the amount of classroom experience by the end of her degree than most first year teachers however full time in the classroom and graduate classes at night was not a trivial challenge.
For four happy years Torrey taught the students of slate country in Fair Haven, Vermont. While it was cold and rural, Vermont is charming and over these years Torrey forged many great relationships and is still in contact with many of her students.
After Ulysses was born Torrey was quite content to stay at home laughing and playing with her beautiful baby. When the Field School reached out to Torrey, however, she was too overwhelmed by the uniquely perfect fit the school culture had with her personality... and couldn't pass up the opportunity. The Field School offers intellectual freedom and rigor simulataneously in a sort of educator's fantasy world of diligent individualized teaching.
